Hotel Santos Porta Fira

Barcelona, Spain

bg-image

Porta Fira is a unique, skyscraper hotel totalling 26-storeys and 113m high. A landmark near the Fira, a prominent exhibition space in Barcelona, this 4-star hotel beat 300 other skyscrapers around the world to win the Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2010.

The Santos Group, the organisation in charge of building Porta Fira, selected Daikin as a trusted partner to deliver a unique, reliable and energy-efficient climate control system for the building.

Unique portfolio provides the ideal climate

For Porta Fira, we delivered a custom solution that uses a mix of air-to-air heat pumps and air-to-water chillers. In each hotel room, we installed VRV heat recovery units to ensure guests can individually control the climate. The heat recovery system also provides the highest energy efficiency by taking excess heat from areas on the south side of the building and moving it to the north side. Large spaces including meeting rooms, the restaurant and lobby, use a Daikin chiller system to provide a cool room temperature during warm summer months.

Year-round comfort guaranteed

We set up our Intelligent Network system to monitor Porta Fira's air conditioning system 24/7. This proactive system is an asset because it goes beyond regular maintenance, as it detects the likelihood of issues to happen, to prevent potential breakdowns.

From the moment the system deviates outside standard parameters, an evaluation occurs, followed by immediate support by a team of engineers and experts if necessary. Through this process, the hotel ensures the ideal climate for guests while extending the life of the system.
